As of November 2022, Jeni will begin work on a one-woman multi-media, multi-instrumental, singing, dancing, sewing, and storytelling show! This involves creating bespoke props and handmade storytelling devices such as a crankie, as well as writing a script based her songs from her Appalachian childhood home. She is also applying for grants to extend her performance experience into a theatre environment. Her one-woman show will gather up stories and songs she's presented in concert and in her recorded work over the last sixteen years. This is a significant and exciting project that will take the best part of a year to develop. If you are interested in supporting her work while she is off the road – thus not making an income from touring – please visit her shop OR get in touch ( about sponsoring her new show through a donation OR expertise OR encouragement!
Thanks so much!

Should you wish to book Jeni for a one-off concert, festival, or private event, please do write to her at She may be available to step away from her one-woman show project to sing for you!

Jeni does sew patchwork pillows/cushions and quilts as well as dolls to supplement her income. Should you have a sewing project in mind, please get in touch. She also teaches workshops on patchwork sewing, hand-quilting, and songwriting.

The folks at Revolution Records are just plain GREAT! I went in there just after they opened months ago and somehow I ended up flatfoot dancing in the store . . . you know me . . . and then I found a record on which banjo-maker Dave Stacey played back in the 1980s. I got to telling them how I have a Dave Stacey banjo which I bought in an auction up in Lancashire. Then, we started talking about instruments and I mentioned that I played the sewing machine. Well, that was it! We decided there ought be a concert at the record shop!

As I said, they are selling tickets fast at the shop even though the concert is several months away, so get in touch with me if you’d like to come. There is no way to buy tickets online, just in person in the shop or from me (PayPal or BACS).

September 4 & 5

Jeni will be appearing with her duo for a country-folk show on Saturday and a children's show on Sunday. She will be giving a flatfoot workshop as well.

The Jeni Hankins duo are Jeni Hankins and Alfred John Hickling (King Courgette). Jeni has been playing with Alfred since their bands shared multi-band bill in York back in 2010. Since then, they've played together throughout Yorkshire, Lancashire, and London. Together, the duo cover guitar, banjo, mandolin, feet, and xylophone!

The Jeni Hankins duo presents a show made specifically for primary school children to introduce them to how they can invent songs on their own anytime, anywhere. A studious hippopotamus, a mountain bear, a trampoline girl, a useful piece of string, and Owl & Rabbit – the xylophone guys – will show kids how songs can come from absolutely nowhere and everywhere. With buckets of rhythm, crazy rhymes, and a boatful of characters from the Wondarium, kids will be dancing and singing all the way through this show!
